Inland valleys

We have walked for two days now about 20 kilometres inland at between 700 to 1000 metres. The paths are extremely rocky and so slow going. They are hard on dodgy knees. Day one we walked for seven hours. We met an old farmer on a Russian motorcycle as old as he appeared to be. He was very proud of it.
He talked to us Turkish and managed to work work out where we were going.
He then phoned ahead to the only Pension in the village and had a long animated conversation.
Later that day we met a very friendly dog ( the licking type) and a large flock of gorgeous jet black goats. Their shepherd invited us to tea but we declined when she said we had 2 hours walking to go.
We were met at the beginning of the village by our host. He energetically greeted us with hugs and smiles and bungled us and our packs into his little old car for a 1km drive. His Pension was a series of stone shacks whch had been put together with any available materials. Duct tape would have been overly professional. We ate in a corrogated iron shack added as a second storey afterthought. The food was plentiful and he had an open fire so it was smokey but warm.
Our companions were interesting.
Tim and Lisa  continue as good travellng companions (though Tim seems to continue having problems with our English)
A Swiss couple in their fifties, walking for a week.
A Frenchman (no English) who looked as fresh as a daisy with an impeccaly clean hat. He had walked all day withoht seeming to stop. He ate all the left over food.

As we were finishing we were joined by a young two British couple who had walked from the coast (amazing). They both spoke Turkish and French so the Frenchman joined in to a four language conversation. The British guy was doing a Doctorate on the influence oF UAFA Soccer Team Support within Expatriate Turkish communities in Europe.

The next day we bought a lift from our host for the first 5kms and had a twenty km walk to Kas. On the way we met a man collecting Turkish tea.
